Helping users discover their business content through a guided discovery and consumption experience
tldr – what's the project about?
Catalog helps people find relevant content across their SAP Analytics Cloud, based on the information they have access to.
role + timeline:
My role was developing the initial UI presentation for how we display metadata cards and content containers. I also helped to vision out content translation for multilingual organizations.
I worked with 2 other designers on this feature, alongside developers and product managers.
The problem of content discovery:
Content across SAP Analytics Cloud was scattered, with content being available in multiple places – which required users to know where content is and how it was organized.
As an example, think about your Documents folder with probably multiple files, and you're trying to find one specific file tucked away in an obscure folder. Might not be so easy?
A curated discovery experience:
The solution was a guided browsing experience, with enhanced metadata and custom filters. By having a central place to discover content, there’s no need to show folders, but rather have everything in a single place, with content curated for each user based on their permissions.
We also developed an admin-defined filtering, allowing people to filter content to what they need.
Cards were designed in a way to give an overview of the content based on title and description.
The metadata container appears upon clicking the card. Information included item title itself, along with the ability to add supplementary details such as images, filters, a description, and additional links to link to other content.
Content translation:
Translation was also integrated into the SAP Analytics Cloud existing translation flow. Users could set an item to be translated via XLIFF files. Once translations were complete, translated content would appear in a user's preferred language. Non-translated content still appears in the original source language.
